I grew up in the Twin Cities suburbs before moving to Ames, Iowa to study at Iowa State University. Here, I studied the mechanisms of enzyme action via computational methods under the mentorship of Peter Reilly. This work bred within me a fascination with the complexity of of biological systems. In 2005 I joined the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering here at Northwestern for my doctoral work. Currently, I work with the labs of Luis Amaral and Rick Morimoto to understand high-throughput experiments and the staggering complexity of gene regulation.
Outside of my academic life, I enjoy cooking, sports, and brewing beer.
