Life: A Net

Having children enables one to experience childhood again, including the insatiable curiosity –

“Why is the sky blue?”
“What is life?”

etc. etc.

Theses questions sound simple yet often are not necessarily simple to answer. For example, the answer to the first question was settled by Einstein a hundred years ago. To the second one, what I, with a PhD in the “Life Sciences,” have to say is – no one knows.

Having children also reveals one’s identity in many ways. So many times my answer to their questions is “Because of chemical reactions,” that they laugh before I open my mouth: “Mom, I know what you are going to say – it is because of – chemical reactions!”

Of course my shift in view is also caught quickly and precisely, since now they would smile: “Mom, I know, it is because of – networks!”

Yes. It is because of networks. As it is said in a poem I came across years ago:

Life

A net
